Vivo X80, X70 Pro Plus and X70 Pro (Global Editions) are slated to get Android 13 betas from November 2022

Vivo’s Android-based user interface for its smartphones is called OriginOS Ocean – that’s only true in China, though, while devices sold outside of that market will continue to run the potentially offensively-named Funtouch OS (or FOS) out of the box.

OriginOS Ocean upgrades to Android 13 in latest iteration; now Vivo has made the corresponding FOS 13 build official in regions like India. Accordingly, it includes advanced features at the very least, such as improved privacy controls and a new user interface that can automatically match accent and icon colors based on a system-wide background.

FOS 13 also comes with some interesting new tweaks that are more of its own, and because Vivo is Vivo there are a lot of them in the stock camera app. They include a new viewfinder stabilization ring, not to mention the new option to edit video directly from the same interface.

It’s depicted as fairly simple in portrait mode, but becomes more detailed when switched to a landscape view. The user can also now mute the audio under certain circumstances while editing, which may be better for short films.

FOS 13 is technically available as of now – albeit as a public beta and only on the international variant of the X80 Pro. Vivo has announced that the next batch of devices to join the program will include the vanilla X80 and X70 series members available outside of China.

They will be joined by newer sub-flags such as the V25 and V23 series, the T1 series and many of the newer Y series smartphones.

International models of devices sold under the iQOO brand have also not been forgotten: Vivo has announced that the 9T, 9 SE and Neo6 are next for the FOS 13 beta, with the Z6 series (except for the Lite model that will follow in November 2022). .

As for the flagship 9 and 9 Pro, they’re already eligible for these builds, though their 7-series predecessors will have to wait until December. However, Vivo has yet to determine when stable FOS 13 versions will appear for any of these handsets.
