Vivo Slapped With a Fine of Rs 25 Lakhs for Violating GRAP Regulations

A fine of Rs 25 lakhs has been imposed on Vivo Mobile’s manufacturing unit in Greater Noida for violating the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage III rules.

GRAP Phase III prohibits all construction activities except those of national need or importance. Fines are imposed by the State Pollution Control Board (PCB) on those who break the rules.

The PCB of Uttar Pradesh has fined Vivo Mobile India Pvt Limited for violating GRAP rules by building its manufacturing facility in Sector 24 of Yamuna Authority.

The fine was imposed after an investigation.

Fines of Rs 50,000 each have also been imposed on Shri Ram Universal School and a residential complex, both located in Techzone 4 of Greater Noida.

Greater Noida Regional Pollution Officer Radhey Shyam said GRAP Stage III rules apply and all construction work under it is prohibited.

He added that strict action is being taken against polluters by keeping a close eye on them.
