In recent weeks, news of Xiaomi’s next Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 device has slowly been filtered out. This smartphone, which is expected to be the Redmi K50 Ultra or Redmi K50S Pro, has now been officially teased by Xiaomi, albeit with a different name.
Xiaomi has now teased its upcoming device on its Redmi Weibo handle. This smartphone appears to be branded as the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition, and not one of the previously rumored names. However, that doesn’t say much. For example, in 2020, Xiaomi marketed the Redmi K30 Ultra as the “Redmi K30S Extreme Commemorative Edition”. There is a good chance that this new Redmi device will still be sold as the Redmi K50 Ultra.
The company also confirms some other details of the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and will debut this month. Reportedly, the device will be the “ultimate masterpiece of the K50 universe” and has been “redesigned and upgraded across the board”. According to recent reports, the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition – or however it ends up being sold in China – will make the journey to the global market as the Xiaomi 12T Pro.
