Poco X5 Pro leaks with Snapdragon 778G, vanilla X5 with Snapdragon 695 follows

A week ago, the upcoming Poco X5 was spotted in the hands of a cricket star, but did you know a Pro version is also on the way? That was news to us too, but a European retailer is already listing the device as “coming soon” and has posted an almost complete spec sheet.

The Xiaomi Poco X5 Pro has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400px (20:9), according to the retailer. The refresh rate is unfortunately not mentioned, but it should be 120 Hz, like the Poco X4 Pro.

Anyway, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 778G, a solid all-round upgrade from the 695 in the X4 Pro. The retailer lists two memory configurations – 6/128 GB and 8/256 GB – both of which have a microSD card slot. The phone apparently runs Android 12 with MIUI 14 for Poco.

The main camera has a large 108 MP 1/1.52-inch image sensor (0.7 µm pixels) with an aperture of f/1.9, just like last year’s model. However, thanks to the upgraded chipset, 4K video capture is now possible (at 30fps, but still). The other cameras on the back are an 8MP ultrawide (118°) and a 2MP macro. On the front is a 16MP selfie camera.

The power system is the same as before with a large 5,000mAh battery and 67W wired charging only. For protection, there’s Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and an IP68 rating – that last bit doesn’t sound like Poco’s MO, so it could be a spec sheet error (the X4 Pro is only rated to IP53).

There’s no word yet on the price. At launch, the X4 Pro cost €300 for a 6/128GB model (slightly less with early bird pricing) and €350 for the 8/256GB model. Overall, the Poco X5 Pro doesn’t seem to change much, but that Snapdragon 778G will have a big impact on performance. As far as colors go, you have three choices: Blue, Black, and of course, Poco Yellow.

The retailer also lists details for the Xiaomi Poco X5. This one sticks with the Snapdragon 695 (as seen in Geekbench) and has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display (1,080 x 2,400px) with a 120Hz refresh rate, leading us to believe the Pro will also have a 120Hz display has. The base X5 is only IP54 rated, which sounds more believable.

This vanilla model is similar to the Pro, but with some downgrades, starting with the 48 MP main camera, which is still joined by an 8 MP ultra-wide (118 °) and 2 MP macro (don’t count on 4K, though). The selfie camera has dropped to 13MP.

Another change concerns the battery – the capacity remains at 5,000 mAh, the charging speed drops to 33 W.

Like its sibling, the Poco X5 is listed in 6/128GB and 8/256GB (expandable with a microSD) configurations. There’s no pricing information and no Poco X4 to use as a guideline. The X5 offers three color choices: green, blue and black.

Note: The image of the Poco X5 Pro looks identical to the X4 Pro. Maybe Xiaomi didn’t change the design, maybe the retailer reused an old image. The specifications seem very close to the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed.

As for the vanilla X5, the image is remarkably similar to the Redmi K50i, although the specs have little in common (plus, the listed colorways don’t match the images). The specs are much closer to the Redmi Note 12, except for the chipset.
